I was not able to get out this year to bear hunt, but this particular hunt was the best evening sit I've ever had. I had multiple bears in and out all night long, and was able to witness a lot of bear behavior that was fun to just sit and watch.
There had been a big boar coming into that...
This is another one for me... Haven't been in 5 years, but for a while it was our annual summer ritual.
There is a big body of water here in MT with various islands throughout. The islands are pine covered, loaded with huckleberries, and half tame mule deer, and it is a very private camp...
That is a super cool spot. That is exactly what I crave. A place that is secluded, and away from people. Nothing like it. I love my elk spot and my teepee setup, but having a cozy cabin to crash at would be amazing. Thanks for sharing.... You are a lucky man!
I spent two months in San Diego (Mar - April) this year. Loved escaping Eastern MT for 2 months during winter! Of course it had to be one of the mildest winters we've had in years! LOL....
Often times when I'm stressed or want to imagine a place of solitude, I think on my elk spot, the different draws, timbered hillsides, the magical mornings I've spent creeping up to a herd of bugles, or waking up 2 hours before daylight to the sound of rain hitting my teepee and snuggling back...
Thanks for that! Just keep including her in the process every chance you can. Kids like to be a part and included with their dad. Make a big deal about it when you do the outdoorsy stuff with her. Every fish, every kill, make it a big deal, and they get to enjoying that feeling. One trick I...
My 12 year old daughter had the good fortune to draw her 1st pronghorn antelope tag this past fall. We had a great time looking for speedgoats, but we weren't able to get out for the opener weekend, which made for a tougher hunt, but ultimately more rewarding.

All the time. Also had a 350" bull drop and turn this year. Not a shred of doubt he heard the bow or the arrow. Never had them turn inside out like he did. Quiet morning, which didn't help, but re-watching the footage I realized how loud the bow was and that I wasn't letting that happen again.
So you like the V3X??? I've always been a fan of a year or two older flagship bows as like used cars vs new they are significantly cheaper. Also how hard is it to get the poundage from 75 to 80? I've always used 80 and would like to stay there. I have a press and am guessing it's a matter of a...
Currently shooting 2015 Hoyt Nitrum but am noticing it seems to be getting loud. Thinking about trying out a Mathews, as they seem pretty darn quiet, dead in the hand, and smooth. What's your opinions on the quietest bow in the last 2-3 years-current?
Surprised they actually don't advertise as...
She shoots a lot of gophers all summer long, and has always been very matter of fact about putting the round where it needs to go. Funny how some kids are just instinctual like that. My younger daughter struggles with that, even though she hunts with me more. Just not as natural, but still loves it.
