My dad doesn't hunt much anymore but growing up I watched him skin deer with an Old Timer Sharpfinger. When I was old enough to get a hunting knife I asked for one for Christmas and I skinned my first buck with it. ISO Affordable, quality lightweight sleeping bag.
I'm several years into using an 10 degree Enlightened Equipment quilt. It's not the cheapest ( Maybe $360 ) but it is light ( 26 oz ) and it keeps me warm enough. I don't know if anyone else does this but if you are already using down jacket and pants on a hunt sometimes I will just wear those...- geetar
