I've gotten 4 different E.R. Shaw barrels over the years. For a hunting rifle, they do just fine. One note I will make about Shaw barrels. Their bluing is a thing of beauty!!! -

I really hate to sound like a Debbie Downer, but.... For any testing to be truly relevant, the conditions of the testing needs to be controlled. And from a firearms standpoint (or Howitzer barrel for that matter), it just won't happen. As per everyone that asks for that "magic load". This...- std7mag

Yeah... But good luck finding any Alliant powder! Local distributor/wholesaler has a few bottles left. And once they are gone, they are gone. Found out the reason why Vihtavouri is the powder manufacturer that has the most offerings in stock is that they make their own nitrocellulose.- std7mag

Hornady 300 wsm ammo
Yes, this is especially true from just a year or two ago. I've seen ammo with 2 bullets in one casing. Along with other defects. Just because it comes from a factory, doesn't mean that there are zero defects.- std7mag

@YoungGun , You mentioned a CZ. I don't have an O/U, but I do love the CZ 720 semi auto that I do have!! Hard to go much wrong with a CZ, especially at their price point. -

The " read instructions before use" are on every new gun. Heck, flip down the visor on a 4X4 truck, and there's a caution label. Since at least 1986. Even my Traditions inline had the "read instructions before use". That wouldn't put me off from buying a Savage or Weatherby. In my younger... -

Ready for a new 7 mag load
I can load to the lands in both my Rem and WBY Mag and fit in the magazine. Problem with the Weatherbys is the short ejection port. Touching the lands is 3.630" with a 160gr Sierra SPBT GameKing. But it won't eject a loaded round. Have to pull the bolt, and that requires opening the bolt and...- std7mag

Ready for a new 7 mag load
So, i was tinkering around the reloading area the other day. Ran across some 168gr Berger Classic Hunter and 2lbs of Ramshot LRT. Ran the numbers through Quick Load for the Rem Mag and the WBY Mag. I think I'm going to give this combo a try.- std7mag

Someone on another forum was giving his results on Ramshot Grand with his 300 Win. Fairly impressive. I might try some in the Rem & WBY Magnums.- std7mag
