    Boot insulation

    I wear Schnee pac boots when it’s cold with snow. They are -20 boots. I don’t know the grams of insulation. When it’s really cold, like I’ve fishing cold, I wear a pair of Baffin which are something stupid like -150. I’ve never been cold in them.

    I wouldn’t bother with snake gaiters. I’ve run into rattlesnakes hunting. They rattle and let you know they are there. I’ve never been struck at by a snake.

    Saw my first albino mule deer last night but no bear. I just finished a week of bear hunting. We saw 25 bears. A couple blown stalks. Lots of hound hunters out. They like to tree and release. I’m all for equal opportunity for hunting but they sure were harassing the bears hard.

    All my grizz encounters were while fly fishing. I carried spray and upgraded my 6 weight to an 8 weight. I felt well prepared.

    I’ve never been charged by a grizz. A few of my friends have been charged by grizz. They all say the same thing, pistol or spray doesn’t matter if it’s not in your hand and ready when the charge occurs.
