2024 Turkey Season!

Nice bird for your wife Chad, congratulations to heršŸ‘
She was pretty excited, this bird skirted just out of range on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. So today I gave her my shotgun and went with her. He came in silent and I got him well within range of my shotgun (36 yards)

My cinco de mayo bird from Wisconsinā€™s bluff country. What a beautiful part of the country! I worked hard for this bird. I had never hunted the area before and had no idea where to start looking. I was blessed with a dandy. This is the first time I shot a Tom older than 2, I started turkey hunting 3 years ago and now Iā€™m addicted.

My hunting buddy and I were able to get my oldest, and his youngest, out for their first turkey hunt. Neither are old enough/ready to shoot their own birds but they were ready to tag along and see what turkey hunting is all about. We normally don't shoot jakes but when a group of 5 came within 15 yards and among the decoys we had to let the kids see one fall. My buddy shot this Jake and the kids were beyond excited. I blurred out her face since she's not my kid but her smile was huge!

Got back from a broken horn oryx hunt in NM in time to get out for a morning of hunting before going back to work. It was a really nice morning with no wind and just a bit of rain here and there. Two nice toms came in after a a couple hours of cat and mouse with the group. I decided this bird would wear tag #2 nicely :). We can get 3 tags in the spring, but are only allowed 1 bird per day, so hopefully I'll get a chance to go try and find 1 more soon!

Birds didn't talk for Tuesday or Wednesday then this morning they started. All over the vally. I'm sitting on top of a ridge and couple hens walked through an hour later 2 2 year Olds followed by this Tom. 11" and 1 1/4 spurs. In semi red stage.
Also found a few hand fulls of Bearcorn , highly medical.

My season opened yesterday. I couldnā€™t take off work, but after an early dinner I told the kids to grab their stuff, weā€™re going turkey hunting. An hour in we saw two toms come over a hill a few hundred yards away. It took a half hour of calling but they eventually made it to our decoys and only one of them left. The kids loved it. Iā€™m sad my season ended so quickly but I wouldnā€™t change a thing.

Congratulations, on getting it done with the kids on hand to learn.

Never killed anything call a tom, but did kill 4 gobblers this season. Two in Bama and two out West. Shouldā€™ve had another Bama gobbler before my trip, but he got away before I could get a shot.
